The Festival is now accepting art submissions for the 2013 Festival, June 20-23. The Festival anticipates over 10,000 attendees — don’t miss your chance to be part of another amazing year!

The Festival is seeking:

All artists 18 years old or older are encouraged to submit art for consideration. We accept submissions and feature art from artists across the nation and world, and there are no submission fees to apply if you live outside of North America.

New for 2013

Due to your feedback, you can submit even more art! Visual and Literary Artists now have the option pay a second $30 fee to upload an additional 5 entries for consideration by the jury.

This fee may be paid at the time of your original submission fee or at any other time during the call for art. The early bird discount does not apply to the additional submission fee.

Deadlines (and Discounts!)

Take advantage of early-bird (discounted) submission fees up until 11pm PST on Sunday, February 24. (Note that all artists outside of North America apply for free.)

Call for Art closes at 11pm PST on Saturday, March 10 for Visual, Performance, DJ, and Installation.

The deadline for Short Film/Video, Literary and Festival Store art is Sunday, March 31 at 11pm PST.

Submissions may be edited up until the deadline.

Call for Art 2013

This year’s Seattle Erotic Art Festival is scheduled for June 21-23, 2013 at Fremont Studios!

Get your creative engines turning, and get ready to send us your art!

The Call for Art for the 2013 Festival is:

February 10 through March 10, 2013.

We are seeking:

  • Visual art of all media
  • Installation art
  • Literary art
  • Short film
  • Performances
  • DJs
  • And pieces for the popular Festival Store

Work is submitted for consideration online through our website when the Call for Art opens (February 10 through March 10, 2013).

This is primarily accomplished by uploading:

  • JPEG images of visual art
  • Text documents and optional JPEG images for installation proposals
  • Text documents for literary submissions 
  • Video links, actual video files, or mailing in hard copies for film submissions

Please remember, our visual art jury is different every year. Here is information on the art selection process.

Delivering and Picking Up Your Artwork

All visual and Festival Store artists should have already received an email detailing framing and delivering your work.

Reminder of important deadlines:

  • May 20 – June 11 — Delivery window for shipped artwork (International artists may ship their work earlier)
  • Sunday, June 10 — Hand-delivery of art due, 10am-6pm
  • Monday, June 11 — Final deadline for all shipped artwork
  • Monday, June 25 — In-person pick-up of any unsold artwork, 10am-6pm

Addresses for delivery and pick-up were provided in the email we sent you, and will not be posted publicly.

Discount Codes: Expire June 8

All artists who paid a submission fee should already have received a discount code worth the value of the highest submission fee you paid.

This discount code can be applied towards either one Friday June 22 ticket or to one Full Festival Pass.

If you are an accepted artist, you should have received a second email with your free code (see below).

These codes/tickets are non-transferrable and non-refundable. If you paid more than one submission fee, you receive one code worth the value of the highest fee you paid.

Artist Workshop: Matting and Framing 2D Art with Jim Duvall

The Seattle Erotic Art Festival is pleased to present this useful Artist Workshop: Matting and Framing 2D Art with Jim Duvall.

This class is FREE for all accepted 2012 Festival artists, and is $10 at the door for anyone else.

Jim Duvall is an award-winning photographer. He has shown his work and taught workshops across the nation. Jim founded the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, has been a juried or invited artist for years, and most recently served on the 2012 visual art jury.

This class will teach artists the basic skills required for matting and framing 2D artwork. Jim will discuss various materials and styles, as well as price ranges. The workshop will include a demonstration and time to practice using some of the more common tools under Jim’s guidance.

There will be a handout for all attendees to take home with information about tool selections and the corresponding prices.

Learn basic skills for matting and framing, details about materials and styles, tools and prices, and more.

The last part of the class will be exclusively for accepted 2012 Festival artists.

Visual Art Director Sophia Iannicelli will discuss the process of delivering art for the Festival in June, and answer any questions accepted artists may have about the upcoming event.

The 10th anniversary Seattle Erotic Art Festival is June 16-24 at Fremont Studios.

Festival tickets go on sale on Saturday, May 5. The Festival is celebrating the start of ticket sales with the third annual Launch Party, May 5, 9pm to 2am, at Neumo’s. Tickets for the Launch Party are available now.
