Literary Art Highlights
Now in its fourth year, the Festival’s Literary Art Exhibition continues to flourish, presenting 50 incredible jury-selected pieces.
From profound readings to popular literary art tours to our second annual printed anthology, never before has the written word been so gloriously celebrated at the Festival.
This year we received more submissions than ever before, and are proud to showcase 50 pieces (38 poems and 12 short stories) by 25 different artists, including works from Canada, France and Italy.
Printed Anthology
In 2011 we produced our first-ever Literary Anthology featuring all the accepted pieces in the Literary Art Exhibition.
It sold out within four hours at the Festival Store! Fortunately it is still available for purchase online.
This year we will are excited to produce our second annual anthology, with the 50 accepted works in the 2012 exhibition. It will be available for purchase in the Festival Store during the event (and yes, we will have more copies than last year), and will be available online afterwards.
You won’t want to miss this collection of delightful erotica. Plan to add it to your bookshelf.
Poetry Art Tours, Every Day at 4pm
Last year we debuted a new form of art tour, beautifully combining literary and visual art. These art tours were so successful we are eager to bring them back again this year.
How does it work? Just before the Festival opens, writers from the Literary Art Exhibition will preview the visual art in the show and be inspired to compose poetry about the pieces that most resonate for them.
During the Festival, these poems will be read aloud to audiences by the poets while standing in front of the piece in the exhibition.
You won’t want to miss these wildly popular art tours, offered every day at 4pm. Not only do you get to experience the visual art exhibition, you also get to enjoy brand new poetry inspired by those pieces.

Profound Readings
Every year the Festival features literary readings by Seattle’s most celebrated spoken word performers.
Come listen to the accepted works of the 2012 exhibition as they are performed with true style and passion.
You can always read them at home. This is your chance to listen to them come to life.
And we are delighted to announce that on Friday June 22 the famed ladies of Afrodisiac are doing live readings, from 6-7pm.
Afrodisiac is hosted by three amazing female poets, iNfinity, Verbal Oasis and Methodycal, who have designed Afrodisiac to be a safe space for every gender, race and sexual identity. Afrodisiac is a place to celebrate the diverse sexualities of people of color, to expose audiences to a variety of artisti erotic presentations, and challenge classic views of sexuality.
Seattle Poetry Slam: Erotic Edition
Have you ever attended a poetry slam? The celebrated group Seattle Poetry Slam is partnering with the Festival to produce a special erotic edition just for the 10th anniversary event.
Enjoy their sexy poems and captivating delivery.
Join us on Saturday, June 16 (the Festival’s opening day!) from 7-9pm… right before our vibrant after-party “LOVE” begins.
We will have an experienced emcee and 8 seasoned slam poets whose work is sexy and delivery is captivating. You’ll love these talented performers!
We will recruit audience members to serve as judges, so be ready: you might be invited to join this interactive experience!
