The Stunning Spider Web: Le Petit Piege

The Stunning Spider Web: Le Petit Piege

This year the Festival is showcasing larger installations than ever before.

The centerpiece installation – Le Petit Piège (“The Little Trap”) – is an immense spider web, suspended 20’ tall by 40’ wide, and constructed from glittering steel cable.

The spider web is the first thing you’ll see when you enter Fremont Studios, and you’ll be amazed.

The web features a suggestive image at its center, plasma-cut into a steel plate.

Hand-crafted aluminum nodes connect the web’s strands, and house accelerometer-driven LEDs. The web illuminates at the touch of performers.

The web is a stunning piece of art in its own right, and additionally serves as a vertical stage for dazzling bondage and aerial performances.

It will be erotically thought-provoking, with themes around captivity, bondage and the powerful female figure of the spider, as celebrated by the talented performers.

Lead artist Kevin MacDonald is a mechanical engineer and machinist. Kevin orchestrated the Beds Installation in 2010, which had six unique metal-work beds on display.
