2016 Visual Art Award Winners

At the Festival, every artists who gets their work in the exhibition is a winner. The jury agonizes over which pieces will make up the Seattle Erotic Art Festival Visual Art exhibition each year. And as a reward for their hard work, we ask them to choose three pieces that stand out just a little more than the rest to be the Jury Choice Awards. These artists will return to to the next year’s Festival as Invited Artists.

The visual art jury is also involved in the selection of the Foundation Award winner. The Festival committee purchases the selected piece from the exhibition to add to the Foundation of Sex Positive Culture’s private collection.

And the winners are…

For Juror’s Choice, congratulations to:

Fernando Carpaneda for “The Rebirth of Punk: Reinterpretation of Michelangelo’s sculpture ‘Dying Slave'”, a mixed media sculpture comprised of clay, human hair, and acrylic paint created in 2015 and measuring 22″x5″x5″.

Neil Doherty (NBKToys) for “TOTEM III”, a hand-built ceramic sculpture created in 2015 and measuring 13″x5″x5″.

Ruthie V. for “Trust”, an oil on canvas painting created in 2015 and measuring 72″x48″.

For the Foundation Award, congratulations to:

Steve Jensen for four out of the nine “NW Kama Sutra Series”, a set of gouache & graphite drawings on paper mounted to wood in hand-crafted steel frames.
