The Realm of Decadent Delights is closed – for now

Hello to all you lovers of art, the erotic, and escape rooms! It seemed a good time to take a moment from obsessively waiting for news about Seattle’s progress towards Phase 2 in order to talk to you all about the Aaaahz! escape room, The Realm of Decadent Delights. It saddens us – but also surprises no one – to have to announce that The Realm of Decadent Delights will be postponed from its current scheduled date of June 13. Seattle’s Stay at Home order is still on the calendar through May 31st, and assuming we move to Phase 2 on time, we just won’t make it to Phase 3 by June 13.

Our Provocateur of Experiences, Andy Cargile (the delightfully creative mind who came up with Aaaahz! and the escape room), and our Executive Director, Sophia Sky Iannicelli, are planning and plotting ways to best make the escape room safe and accessible on the rescheduled date of Saturday, September 26th. With mountains of input from the rest of the committee. We are currently exploring options for making the escape room virtual, in the instance that we cannot safely hold the event in person. We’re a small organization run by volunteers, so we are still figuring out all those logistics. Wherever the Realm of Decadent Delights lands, we want it to be somewhere that properly showcases and honors the sumptuous and sexy vision that originally brought it to life. We want to make sure that it’s not just done, but done well.

In the meantime, if like us you are tired of breathlessly refreshing the Governor’s website in the hopes of an update, might we steer you towards our Instagram? We have been featuring artists who were accepted into the SEAF 2020 Exhibition, to give you a small tease of what awaits when we’re able to once more open our doors. There’s also always the Flickr feed, where you can peruse past festivals and see what Aaaahz! did in previous years to whet your appetite for what is to come.

We miss you all, and are looking forward to a time when we are able to meet up and bask in sexy art and provocative, interactive experiences once more. Stay safe, and if you can, stay home.
