Masquerade of Shadows
Saturday, October 19

Doors Open 8PM | 21+
No new entry after 1AM

It’s time for Seattle’s sexiest Halloween party! Gallery Erato is preparing to host Seduction: Masquerade of Shadows—a night of music, dancing, ambient performances, and the hottest costumes to make it out of the bedroom!

Seduction this year offers two floors of Halloween revelry. Step into our parlor upstairs for a delightfully spooky party. You’ll rub elbows with creatures that go bump in the night (don’t worry, they’re on their best behavior) while roaming a fantastically macabre collection of art specifically curated for the season. If you’re feeling bold, head downstairs into the Vampire’s Lair. Bewitching beats will keep you dancing, and our bar will be mixing up the perfect cocktails and mocktails.

Please join the Pan Eros Foundation and the Seattle Erotic Art Festival at Gallery Erato on October 19. And remember, Seduction: Masquerade of Shadows is a fundraiser for the 2025 Seattle Erotic Art Festival. By attending Seduction, you help make SEAF go!

Experience immersive performances

As in the past, this year we are scheming for performances to surround you, beguile you, and titillate you.

DJs to bring out your dark side

SEAF’s Director of Sound, diem, has lured discobento to start out our night, and Adriana A of BootieMashUp fame to electrify our dance floor for your pleasure.

discobento

/‘dɪs-kəʊ-bɛn-təʊ/ n. 1. A unique curated musical experience. A passion for the unexpected and quick sense of what makes the dance floor bounce. 2. A vault of artists, songs and samples, blended naturally, regardless of theme or bpm. A journey through any and all genres, featuring favorite throwback jams, total silly shit and absolute fucking bangers. 3. A gift; the thing that cures what ails ya’ through dance, laughter, and love. 4. An expression of joy.

Adriana A

As the Queen Mother of international music and nightlife brand Bootie Mashup, Adriana A has made a career out of showcasing “the best mashups in the world ever,” throwing genre-fluid dance parties in San Francisco, LA, NYC, Berlin, Black Rock City (and beyond) since 2003. By shamelessly combining pop songs both throwback and current, this trans icon has won numerous nightlife awards in California, along with hosting a popular Twitch channel. Adriana’s own mashup productions have gone viral on TikTok, been covered by the artists themselves, and nail that sweet spot of bridging the gap between the mainstream and underground, making everyone feel welcome at the party!

Her most recent mashup work has found her merging diva pop vocals with her love of electronic darksynth and darkwave, perfect for her DJ residencies at Piepshow, Berlin’s monthly queer party at KitKat Club, and Playland, San Francisco’s weekly fetish party, as well as festivals such as Berlin Fetish Week, Burning Man, Wasteland Weekend, and Neotropolis.

A curated art showcase

As you read this, our curators are talking with artists about what deviant delights they will bring to adorn the walls of Gallery Erato. While they are still working out all the dark and delightful details, here are some of the creators who will be bringing their amazing works to our walls at Seduction.

Isiah Blake

Leatherworker and craftsman with a focus on costuming and prop-making. Isiah utilizes leather, canvas, metal and various found objects to create apocalyptic bondage masks. In the last couple years he has pulled inspiration from icons of the horror genre, tapping into societies collective desire for and repulsion from the monstrous.

Charde’ Brown

Self-taught artist Charde’ Brown from Auburn, Washington creates conceptual work with acrylic paint, mixed media, and soft/oil pastels. It first started out as a means to escape social stigma, but seeing the impact it had on others, it began her journey of becoming a visual artist. She explores feelings, ideas, and past experiences via her artistic self-expression. Brown has found solace and therapeutic support in art, which has enabled her to manage her struggles with mental health.

Brown’s passion for dancing and movement is evident in her body-positive, emotion-provoking, and empowering nude artwork. Through her own personal experiences, she connects with her audience and provides an escape from social stigma. Her works illustrate her mission to raise awareness of the impact that trauma can have on a person, as well as resonate with my audience and encourage others to also begin their healing journey.

Feral Maz

Feral Maz is a visual artist inspired by folklore, biology and world puppetry. A fan of all things technical, Maz draws on their experience as an architectural welder in the creation of their work. Through sculpture, puppetry and costuming, Maz invites viewers to explore difficult topics including trauma, sexuality, gender and mental health.

James Corey

James Corey is a leather mask maker from Seattle who has made over 1400 masks since March 2019. The mask making process every day allows them to turn their anxiety, fear, and self-doubt daily into something true, beautiful, and good. This practice emerged out of a confluence of events in 2018: A Commedia dell’Arte mask making workshop in Florence, their entry into Jungian psychotherapy, and a necessity to take their hypomania, or extra energy, and channel it into a creative outlet.

In Jungian psychotherapy James learned about the ego, the mask we show others. They learned about the shadow, that which we hide from others. They experienced the process of holding their shadow up into the light of personal reflection and witnessing it. These masks are a physical manifestation of their individuation.
