Installation Art Submission Tips and More!

The Seattle Erotic Art Festival LOVES Installation Art. There’s nothing quite like three-dimensional, unified pieces filling up our space and immersing guests in a sensual, shocking, erotic experience. Ice sculptures melting and dripping ever-so-slowly, walls of dirty magazines, a butterscotch “wall” licked throughout the festival— oh, the wonderful ideas you artists came up with this year! Our 2017 Call for Art includes a strong desire to receive and feature installation art to display throughout the venue. We would like to make sure you have all the information needed to make that happen.

For the SEAF 2017 Call for Art, artists may submit up to 3 installation pieces. We know installations take a lot of work and effort, so you only need to submit proposals before the Call for Art ends on January 15th. Proposals are introductory descriptions of your piece, with as many juicy details included as possible– our jurors want to fully envision what you have in mind! Make your proposal stand out from the rest by including a sketch, video, or photo of your idea. For artists needing financial assistance, the Seattle Erotic Art Festival does have limited funding available of up to $300 for each proposal! Submit your installation art proposals in PDF format. Submit any other attachments or photos relating to the proposal to the Artist Portal, or email [email protected]. Installation art does not have to be for sale (with the exception of Artists’ Books, noted below). Installation art that is for sale has special commissions available! Find out more about the submission process in our For Artists section of the site!

New this Year

Artists’ Books are now an included art medium. Submit these books as Installation Art in the Artist Portal! Artists’ books are hand-made and include unique pieces of art, curated by the artists themselves.  Artists submitting books must allow books to be for sale. Additionally, books must contain some literary components (poems, short stories, essays, etc.) following this year’s literary theme. Learn more about the submission process, literary theme, and submission benefits in our Artists’ Books news post, then head on over to the Artist Portal to start your submission!
