Keeping track of the SEAF 2024 Calls for Art

Hello my vibrant virtuosos! A lot is going on here at SEAF Headquarters! We’re heading into that most wonderful time of the year, and I don’t just mean the winter holiday season. With two calls underway, and the rest less than two weeks out, it can be hard to keep track of when to submit your art. The festival has grown, we’ve changed a few things, we know it’s a lot. So we’re here to help! Here is your guide to the SEAF 2024 Calls for Art!

Pan Eros Film Festival Call for Film

September 9, 2023 – March 1, 2024

The Call for Film is well on its way! This year PEFF turns 3, and we’re so proud of our growing film festival. Once again at the SIFF Film Center in the Seattle Center, PEFF runs concurrently with SEAF. It’s just a quick walk from the Exhibition Hall over to the SIFF Film Center, making it easy to catch a showing!

We are accepting two types of submissions: Short Film and Silent Film.

Short Film

A selection of short films under 15 minutes in length will be screened in-person at the Pan Eros Film Festival in SIFF Film Center. There are five screenings scheduled on April 27-28, 2024. We strongly encourage story-telling that tells unique narratives across the broad spectrum of gender and human sexuality. Short films of all genres are permitted.

Silent Film

A selection of silent films under 15 minutes in length will be shown continuously for three full days at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival in Exhibition Hall from April 26-28, 2024. Films not intended to be silent films at their creation but have audio removed are acceptable as entries. Short Film Entries may be asked to participate in the Silent Film category.

Submissions for film are done through Film Freeway. Head on over to the PEFF page and there you’ll find all the information you need before submitting your work.

Special Call for Interactive Proposals

November 1, 2023 – December 15, 2023

There’s still a little less than a month left for Interactive Proposals! We have a very comprehensive breakdown of what is included in Interactive Proposals and the types of submissions we are looking for right over here. Briefly, Interactive elements are art projects, activities, or performances that are meant to be interacted with and/or engages participants via more that one sense. If the audience is allowed to touch it, talk to it, move it, sit on it, have it sit on them, so on and so forth, it is an interactive element. Interactive is made up of three categories: Interactive – Attended, Interactive – Unattended, and Interactive – Performance.

All proposals must be made via this Google form. You will want to go read that article we mentioned before submitting a proposal. Please remember that we don’t have separate rooms in the Exhibition Hall. Additionally, nothing can be attached to the walls, ceiling, or floor. Please keep that in mind when drafting your proposals.

Call for Visual, Literary, and Store Art

December 1, 2023 – January 15, 2024

We know so many of you are breathless with anticipation as the clock ticks down to our Call for Art. As in past years Visual, Literary, and Store art will be submitted through our submission portal. The portal has seen revision this year, but should still be familiar to those of you who have submitted in the past. In the coming weeks we will put together a video walkthrough of the new portal. You’ll be the first to see it, we promise.

This year we will once more offer an Early Bird discounted fee of $20 for submissions until the end of the day on December 15. Beginning on the 16th, submissions fees are $38. Your fee allows you to submit up to 5 works to the festival. As we do each year, we are pleased to offer a scholarship program to artists from traditionally marginalized communities. (If you, gentle reader, are not an artist, but would like to contribute, kindly consider donating to our scholarship program here.) As always, there is no submission fee for artists who live and create outside of North America.

A breakdown of our fees and deadlines, along with some handy information and frequently asked questions, can be found here.

Call for Performance

December 1, 2023 – February 9, 2024

We are seeing a major revamp to how Performance is submitted this year! The performance call will go live on December 1, but it will not – we repeat, NOT – be done through the portal. Performance submissions this year will be done through a Google Form. Which you don’t get to see yet, you cheeky devils. It’s not December. You have to wait.

As in past years, we are looking for a variety of performance. From larger choreographed acts that would be at home on our 4Culture stage, to aerial pieces that would make good use of the rig on our VIP stage. Additionally, we need performers that are comfortable being out in the crowd doing ambient pieces among our guests. Our curators are looking forward to seeing all you have to offer.

Questions?

As always, we are standing by if you have questions about the SEAF 2024 Calls for Art or there is anything you need to know. The Call for Art pages contain a trove of information, and if you’re really stuck you can always email us at [email protected]. They can get you answers, or get you to people who have answers.

We’re all very excited to see what you have for us this year. Happy creating.
