Hello you decadent and discerning darlings! Every year, the Pan Eros Foundation and the Seattle Erotic Art Festival honor artists and pieces of art that have shown distinction through execution, through evocation, and through embracing all that the festival hopes to achieve. We would love to take this moment and walk you through the Awards of SEAF 2023. Those of you long familiar with the festival will note that there are a few additions this year as we continue to expand and make changes that highlight and esteem our creative community.
Visual
The Foundation Award – The Pan Eros Foundation will purchase one piece of art to be added to Gallery Erato’s permanent collection. The submission fee for the artist will be waived during the 2024 Call for Art. The Foundation Award goes to a piece of art that most embodies the goals of the festival and gives a compelling answer to the question, “What is Erotic?”
The People’s Choice Award – The attendees of the 2023 Seattle Erotic Art Festival will vote on the visual art pieces throughout the weekend. The artists with the 3 highest voted pieces of art are invited to show in the following year’s festival and receive badges and accolades.
Juror’s Choice Award – The 2023 Jury and the SEAF steering committee will choose 3 artists or pieces of art that are exemplary of the spirit of SEAF. The winning artists are invited to show in the following year’s festival and receive badges and accolades.
Literary
The Foundation Award – The Pan Eros Foundation will award a $100 prize to one literary work from each of the three submission categories: Poetry, Flash, and Short Works. The submission fee for the writer will be waived during the 2024 Call for Art. The Foundation Award goes to the writing that most embodies the goals of the festival and gives a compelling answer to the question, “What is Erotic?”
Editor’s Choice Award – The 2023 Editors will choose one poetry piece and one prose piece that is exemplary of the spirit of SEAF. The winning writers will be featured in the following year’s anthology and receive badges and accolades.
Film
Laurels – Laurels will be awarded to all selected filmmakers, with special laurels awarded to Best in Show, Best Foreign Short, Audience Choice, and Best Silent Film.
Best in Show will be awarded a $300 prize, and will be determined through audience voting. Best Silent Film will be awarded a $100 prize, and chosen by the Film Director and select SEAF staff. Best Silent Film will also be shown at the Short Films showcase in addition to be shown on a continuous loop with all accepted silent films at the 2023 Seattle Erotic Art Festival.
Best Foreign Short and Audience Choice are also decided by audience voting.
