Here’s Why You Should be at SEAF This Weekend

The excitement is building– can you feel it? Art work is arriving, walls are going up, performers are putting the final touches on their pieces, and many of you are deciding on outfits to wear…in other words, SEAF IS ALMOST HERE! The festival starts this Friday, and we are tingling with anticipation. Not quite sure if you can make it this year? Here’s six tantalizing reasons to make sure you (and everyone you know who loves a sexy soirèe) attend:

The Artvisual art seattle erotic art festival

Over the course of three days, find yourself surrounded by a plethora of art encompassing a variety of art mediums. Walls upon walls will be filled with erotic art created by hundreds of artists, and curated by our diverse visual art jury panel. Pro tip: be sure to attend the festival Friday to get first dibs on all art on display.

Looking for visual art that spills beyond the boundaries of a wall? Check out our installation art offerings! Try your hand at Life Drawing in the Rope Art Salon, or experience the eroticism derived from watching a piece of art made from start to finish at any of the live art stations. Immerse yourself in the future of erotica with cyborg.one, an artificial intelligence system that converts videos into beautiful moving paintings.

If you delight in the sensuality of language, be sure to pick up a copy of the SEAF Literary Anthology, available for purchase in the Festival store. Alternatively, join us at our author readings, and our Writer’s Wanderlust art tours in the Literary Lair.

Without all of the wonderful people involved and in attendance, there would be no SEAF. The people who join us each year bring an enthusiastic, creative, and welcoming environment for all. Guests, volunteers, and all other participants are from a variety of backgrounds, bringing with them genuine curiosity and unique perspectives that result in an unforgettable experience.  During the day, you’ll find a quieter atmosphere, with more opportunities to casually take in discussions relating to sexuality, identity, and/or eroticism. At night, the event becomes a super-sexy art party, with performances, bartenders, DJs, and an energetic crowd. For those of you who consider shoes to be wearable art, we encourage you to enter our Vamp and Sole Shoe Contest.

(P.S. Want to volunteer for SEAF? It’s not too late! We still have opportunities available for SEAF enthusiasts ages 21 and over.)

This year’s festival is gushing with performance art of all types.  On the stage, you’ll find burlesque, spoken word, dance, storytelling, and live music. Stage performance curators include Luminous Pariah, Namii, Alyza Delpan-Monley, Lowa de Boom Boom, and Jesse Belle-Jones. Learn more about our stage performers here.

As you’re making your way around SEAF, be on the lookout for our Interactive Troupe as they roam the Festival floor, immersing you in hyper-local, sensual experiences. Need even more erotic thrills? Visit our Aerial Stage, where you’ll find aerial performances and rope bondage suspension acts guaranteed to enthrall you. Performance art lovers: attend the festival on both Friday and Saturday to get your fill of the fun.

Aaaahmazingly Racy

Aaaahmazingly Racy returns for another year of fun! This interactive adventure is modeled after The Amazing Race. Twenty teams of 2-3 journey around the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, interacting with the art in the venue, solving clues and completing sexy challenges. After a series of clues, challenges, detours, and road blocks, you’ll make your way to the pit stop and the Provocateur of Experiences to collect some amazing prizes. The winners get tickets to Seduction 2018…our erotic Halloween party. Aaaahmazingly Racy takes place Saturday at 9pm (check-in at 8:45pm), and requires a separate ticket for entry.  This exciting event sold out last year; we highly recommend purchasing your ticket in advance.

(P.S.S. Like games? Check out Consent/Ascent/Descent at the Festival, an interactive game about consent and boundaries based on the classic game of Chutes N’ Ladders!)

Do you find ear-pleasing music to be your form of an erotic experience? We have you completely covered!  Enjoy auditory stimulation from live music acts like The Black Tones (Sat, Apr 28) and Mojo Duo (Fri, Apr 27) on the Main Stage. If you want even more, stay up late with us Friday and Saturday nights. Friday, DJ Mariu5 joins us on the DJ Stage, giving you sounds to groove to until 1am. Saturday, the Festival becomes a late night art party from 11pm – 2am. Nark, DJ Sharlese, and Arson Nicki provide the aural enjoyment, while our tantalizing go-gos and pole dancers visually delight you. And if you want even more…well, you’re on your own for that. Might we suggest planning a little SEAF after-party with friends and/or lovers to continue the fun and reminiscence about the event? ;)

The Conversation

We want our festival to ignite conversation. Not only do we serve as an art exhibition, but we also aim to be an arena for education around eroticism, sexuality, and/or identity. We are pleased to provide you with a number of opportunities to attend lectures and engage in conversation.

Dr. Bettina Judd and Briq House take the stage for a lecture on Black Feminism, Black Women in Sex Work, and Dimensions of Black Female Pleasure (Sat, Apr 28). Doreen Russell takes you on an exploration of Asian erotic art during her lecture in the Festival Store (Sun, Apr 29). Kamari Bright, with special guest chef Tarik Abdullah, combine spoken word and culinary prowess to delve into the intimacy of food while a sultry dish is prepared live (Sat, Apr 28). See the full list of formal presenters here. For more casual discussions, stop by our Conversation Corners, which you’ll find on our Festival Schedule.

So…are you coming? We hope so. VIP passes are now sold out; 3-day, single-day, and gallery hour passes are still available! Get yours now, ticket prices go up at the door!
